If you have ever tried to kick-start a renovation or new-build project in Spain, you are likely familiar with the frustration. You have a vision, you have the budget, but you hit an immediate roadblock: finding an architect who actually replies to your enquiry.

It is the single most common complaint we hear from clients. “I’ve emailed ten architects and haven’t heard back from a single one.”

At ECS, we realised that one of the biggest barriers to successful building wasn’t a lack of talent in Spain—it was a communication breakdown. Architects are incredibly busy professionals, often overwhelmed with onsite work and bureaucracy, leaving little time for admin or new business enquiries.

We decided that our clients deserved a better starting point. Five years ago, we began a major initiative to address this problem. Today, we are launching the result of our work: our Architect Directory App.

The 5-Year Filter

We didn’t want to just create another generic listing. We wanted to create a tool based on real-world interactions.

Over the past five years, our team has been in contact with more than 5,000 architects across Spain. Our primary goal was simply to see who was at the other end of the line. We tracked who answered calls, who replied to emails, and who was active in their communication.

The results were clear: out of those thousands of contacts, many were unreachable or simply didn’t reply. However, a specific group stood out. We have shortlisted 736 architects who were responsive throughout our interactions.

Responsiveness vs. Competence: A Crucial Distinction

It is vital for us to be completely transparent about what this list is—and what it is not.

This directory does not reflect the professional competence, design quality, or technical skill of the architects listed.

While we have verified that these professionals are active and responsive to enquiries, we have not worked with the majority of them on actual construction projects. We cannot personally vouch for their on-site work ethic or design capabilities.

The sole purpose of this tool is to help you make a start on your project journey. We know that the first step—simply finding someone to talk to—is often the hardest. This list is designed to help you overcome that initial hurdle, but due diligence regarding their portfolio and skills remains your responsibility.

A Better Place to Start

We have now digitised the list of 736 professionals and created an easy-to-use directory on our website.

Important: Managing Your Expectations. In the construction industry, workloads change rapidly. An architect who was responsive six months ago may be fully booked today.

However, this is a massive head start.

Instead of searching blindly on Google and hoping for the best, you are starting with a list of professionals who have a proven history of picking up the phone and replying to emails.

Why does this help your project

  • Save Time: You can bypass the thousands of architects who are currently unreachable or administratively dormant.

  • Focus Your Efforts: You can direct your initial enquiries to a smaller, more promising pool of professionals.

  • Regional Search: Our new app lets you quickly filter the list to find contacts in your area.

Skip the Silence

A successful build relies heavily on the relationship between the client and the architect. By using our new Architect Directory, you are skipping the hardest part of the initial search. You are stepping straight into a pool of professionals who we know exist and have been active.

We are proud to offer this tool to our clients. It represents five years of administrative legwork to help ensure your project gets off the ground.

How to Access: If you require a unique link to access the directory, please contact us via the website contact form.
