E-NERGY CARBON Surface Heating

Breathable Surface Heating: E-NERGY CARBON

At ECS, we believe your heating system should provide natural, comfortable warmth without compromising the structural integrity or breathability of your historic restoration or eco-build. That is why we integrate E-NERGY CARBON electric heating foils by MFH Systems into our high-performance homes.

Designed for ceilings, walls, and floors, the E-NERGY CARBON system is a future-oriented surface heating solution. Operating on a safe 36 V extra-low voltage (SELV), it provides fast-reacting warmth exactly where you need it, pairing flawlessly with our vapour-permeable building envelopes.

Why Choose E-NERGY CARBON?

Traditional radiators consume valuable room space, and conventional wet underfloor heating is often too thick and heavy for historic retrofits. E-NERGY CARBON completely revolutionises climate control for your property:

  • Ultra-Thin Profile: At just 0.4 mm thick, these heating foils require minimal installation height. This makes them the perfect retrofit solution for historic stone ruins and older properties where traditional heating systems simply will not fit.

  • Safe & Damage-Resistant: The system operates safely on a 36 V extra-low voltage. Thanks to a patented manufacturing process, the carbon foils are homogeneously fused rather than layered, eliminating the risk of delamination defects. You can even safely drill directly through the active heating surface to hang pictures or install spotlights.

  • Rapid, Efficient Warmth: Installed directly behind the plaster or floor finish, the system heats up instantly and evenly distributes comfortable radiant heat throughout the space.

  • Moisture & Mould Protection: Dew point management is critical in traditional buildings. By gently maintaining the wall or ceiling surface temperature above the dew point, E-NERGY CARBON works in tandem with our breathable materials to prevent condensation and permanently eliminate the root cause of mould growth.

Tailored for Natural ECS Finishes

Whether we are applying traditional clay plaster or building Steico timber frames, the E-NERGY CARBON range seamlessly integrates into our natural material assemblies:

  • E-NERGY CARBON FLEECE: A vapour-permeable (diffusion-open), fleece-laminated foil optimised for secure adhesion. It is the ultimate solution for embedding directly into our traditional hot lime, clay plasters, or Diathonite cork renders on ceilings and solid stone walls.

  • E-NERGY CARBON DRYTEC: Perfect for our breathable timber-frame builds. Designed specifically for dry construction, it features lateral mounting strips for direct attachment to metal or wooden stud frames behind Steico wood fibre boards or standard plasterboard.

  • E-NERGY CARBON PET: Specially coated for abrasion resistance and mechanical resilience, this foil is engineered for floating floor installations under natural timber parquet and laminate.

The Ultimate “Solar Dump” for ECS Off-Grid Systems

E-NERGY CARBON pairs perfectly with our philosophy of absolute energy independence and maximum self-consumption.

When integrated with our high-capacity Victron solar and battery systems, these fast-reacting heating foils serve as the perfect “solar dump.” Once your core battery reserve is 100% full, our intelligent automation can instantly divert your excess daytime solar power straight into your walls, ceilings, or floors. Controlled via smart thermostats (including WiFi- and app-enabled options), it allows you to bank heat into the thermal mass of your home using surplus energy that would otherwise be wasted on a flooded national grid.
